Whew. 2025 been quite a year. So much chaos and strife throughout the year, culminating in a government shutdown that is threatening health and well-being of many citizens. The idea of government leaders fighting against citizens' abilities to obtain health insurance, afford medical care or get groceries for elderly, pregnant, children and others to eat is bewildering.

It is mind-boggling when those same citizens don't show up to vote.

Although many of the seats were won by the best candidates, it is disappointing that many people chose to sit this election out. Sitting out the vote is not an option for those of us who know our history and current events. Black people were prevented from voting using tests, trickery or at the worst, murdered by Whites who did not want them to vote. Today, Black voting districts in Florida, Louisiana and Texas are being erased. The tactics have changed but the motive remains the same. Choosing not to vote makes it easier. That is all.
