Data Speaks: Black Farmers vs. USDA

In 1993 John Boyd sued the U.S. government over discriminatory practices that systematically reduced the presence of Blacks in the U.S. farming industry. The compensation has not been fully distributed in these last 30 years.


From denying and delaying loans, to price fixing and legislation, Black farmers have dwindled due to systemic racism at the local, state and federal government. In fact, the USDA was at the top of level of the harm done to generations of Black families and their descendants.
