making art

28 MARCH 2020

When I was growing up in the south, one of my favorite ways to get through a boring rainy day---or any day that going outside was not possible---was coloring, or what my sister called "making art."

Back then, my creative free expression had no specific audience or goal. Today, however, all digital images that I create have an important purpose: to convey a visual message about a client's product, service or event.

In marketing products and services, creative images, animations and photographs leave lasting impressions on customers and clients. Animated shorts are especially useful because they present a story that uses both words and video to convey a message.

More important is the company or organization's logo. A well-designed logo provides the best representation of a product or service company. Customers connect the company to its logo, and depending on the experience with the company, subsequent views of a logo elicit favorable emotions---which translate to repeat business---or unfavorable emotions.

I recommend that business owners meet with a graphic artist who can transform their company vision and mission into a powerful logo. It is worth the time and money to do this at the beginning, when the business is being formed.

Many graphic artists have virtual portfolios to showcase their work online. Find them on Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn or Instagram.

You might also contact a company with an impressive logo. They may be able to put you in touch with the designer. Good luck in your search!
