Moving forward and reaching behind

29 JANUARY 2020

A few years ago, I worked in construction as a Marketing and Business Development professional. The work was challenging and rewarding, especially because it required creativity to design attractive proposals, website and other marketing collateral.

Although I was successful in the job, I viewed as a shortcoming my lack of exposure to the business of construction. I was very capable in creating images, layouts and writing however, I had no practical experience nor formal education in construction, both of which I felt would be necessary in order to grow in the company and in the industry.

Fast forward and now everything has changed a bit. I recently completed a construction management training program, which included job shadowing with Project Managers and Superintendents. I also completed an HVAC training course, in which I learned theory and application, and got some hands-on exposure to system components.

Levvitate's services will now include technical marketing for HVAC and Construction. I look forward to getting back to construction in a technical marketing and consulting role!

I learned to use AutoCAD and other 2D/3D programs in undergraduate and graduate Mechanical Engineering programs. I also taught AutoCAD drafting at a career college. Today, I also have proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
